Smart Irrigation System

Estación Buenos Aires is part of the Chingaza Páramo eco-system, and thus inherits the water wealth in the municipality of Fómeque, however the water management decisions and the Smart Irrigation are based on monitoring and data acquisition (climatic data, soil moisture, fertilization, water consumption, fertilizer and energy, images ...), for its best use.

The idea is not only to place tubes and tanks, but to take full advantage of the water resources, complementing this with hydroponic systems that recirculate it and, together with well-managed greenhouses, allow the proper management of water within the region's environment.

Hydroponic Crops

Have you heard of hydroponics? Have you wondered what they are? Are they more or less food than traditional crops?

Hydroponics is a new and ingenious cultivation technique in which no land is used at all. Plants without soil! That's right, vegetables are nourished with a combination mineral salts that contain all the necessary elements so that they can fully develop. These salts are dissolved in the water that is applied to their roots and depending on the crop, they are sometimes combined with substrates (combinations of elements other than the earth). They optimize the use of water ... it produces clean fruits without chemicals.

By not growing on the earth, they avoid toxic substances that are in the soil such as pesticides, lead and nitrates, among others ”
